Responsible for the content: Thomas Bugge, address as above. These are private, non-commercial sites; there is no VAT identification number.
The content has been prepared with care, but no guarantee is given for accuracy, completeness or timeliness. The pages link to external sites whose content I do not control; their providers are responsible for them. No legal violations were apparent when the links were set. If I learn of one, I will remove the link.
Texts, images and design are protected by German copyright law unless stated otherwise. The software presented here is released under free licences (GPLv3 or AGPLv3, see each project). The online village family books are licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Historical sources are cited with their origin.
Privacy
The controller under the GDPR is Thomas Bugge, address as above. In short: there is no advertising, no third-party analytics, no social media plugins and no cookies for visitors. Everything runs on my own infrastructure; fonts and scripts are served from here.
The sites run on my own server in Germany. For technical reasons the web server logs IP address, time, requested URL, data volume, browser identification and, where sent, the referring page. These logs serve only secure operation and troubleshooting and are deleted regularly. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating the sites).
Some pages use a self-built counter without any third party. On page load the browser reports which page was visited. Stored are the page, time, referring page, browser identification and a truncated salted hash of the IP address; the IP address itself is not stored. No cookies are set and nothing is stored in the browser. Individual hits are kept only for the last 50 requests; beyond that only daily totals per page remain, for at most 365 days. Purpose: to see whether and how often the pages are read. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
If you write to me, I store your e-mail address, the message and the time in order to handle your request. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The data are deleted once the matter is settled and no retention reasons remain.
The genealogy databases (webtrees) and the photo diary server (My Photo Diary) have user accounts, which are created only on request or by invitation. Stored are username, e-mail address, a password hash and login times. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Accounts are deleted on request.
The village family books and church record databases contain information about historical persons, as a rule long deceased, from publicly accessible sources. Information about living persons is not displayed publicly. Anyone who feels affected in their rights may contact me at any time; I will review the case and block or correct entries.
Programs (APK files, installers) are downloaded directly from this server; only the log data under 1. arise. Links to GitHub, F-Droid and other providers lead to external sites with their own privacy policies.
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. An e-mail to the address above is sufficient. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz Schleswig-Holstein (ULD), Holstenstraße 98, 24103 Kiel, Germany.
